The Adanacs put on a complete performance on Tuesday night in Coquitlam, defeating the New Westminster Salmonbellies 10-4 in WLA action.

Having consistently given up high shot counts to their opponents, Adanacs goaltender Christian Del Bianco only faced 34 in the victory.

For the Salmonbellies, this is the second game this season where their offence has been non-existent. Back on June 19, they lost 12-2 to the Nanaimo Timbermen. The ‘Bellies have only scored 15 times in their past three games while giving up 28 points.

The Salmonbellies now find themselves tied with the Burnaby Lakers for fifth in the WLA standings with 3-6 record. Meanwhile, the win kept the Adanacs in the chase for first place. Coquitlam improved their record to 7-3 as they chase the 6-1 Victoria Shamrocks.

Salmonbellies keep it close in the first period

Jason Jones wasted no time getting the Salmonbellies on the board, beating Del Bianco only 20 seconds into the game.

In a span of 10:52, the Coquitlam would go on a four-goal run with John Hofseth scoring a hat trick. Hofseth started that scoring on the power play at 6:10. Levi Anderson would make it 2-1 for the Adanacs at 8:01, with Hofseth scoring again 29 seconds later. Hofseth would round out the scoring streak at 17:02.

Jones would add his second of the game with 1:21 remaining in the period and Haiden Dickson would make it a one-goal game in the dying seconds of the first. Make the score 4-3 in favour of the Adanacs.

New Westminster shut out in the second

Del Bianco stopped all eight shots he faced from the Salmonbellies’ offence in the second period as Coquitlam took a commanding lead. The Adanacs outscored their opponents 5-0 in the frame.

Dylan Watson got the party started 6:12 into the second period, followed by Hofseth at 8:02. Riley Loewen got on the board at 10:02 to make it 7-3 for Coquitlam. Watson added markers at 13:41 and 17:32 to make the score 9-3 after two periods of play.

Adanacs finish off Salmonbellies in the third

Both teams were held off the board until late in the third period, which was bad news for the trailing Salmonbellies. Haiden Dickson got New Westminster back on the board at 12:52, but they still had a long way to go.

With Connar Abrams in the box for crosschecking, Brett Draper made the Salmonbellies pay. He found the back of the net shorthanded with 5:11 remaining in the period. That would round out the scoring, making the final 10-4.
