WLA Announces New Social Media Coordinators

by Yvan Lomas

Burnaby, BC, May 2, 2023 – The Western Lacrosse Association is pleased to announce Kaylen Lomas and Ryan Morrison as its Social Media Coordinators for the 2023 season.

The two graphic designers have been involved in Lacrosse and Hockey in the lower mainland. Lomas, a 17-year-old high school student at Dr Charles Best in Coquitlam, started working in media with the WLA Coquitlam Sr. Adanacs in 2022, and the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs of the British Columbia Elite Hockey League in their 2022-23 season. Morrison, also from Coquitlam, started as an intern with the Coquitlam Express in 2018, and soon became their Director of Media Relations.

Lomas is taking multiple courses in business, sports media, and management at Charles Best. She has been a volunteer for the Coquitlam Sr. Adanacs for many years, which introduced her to the business side of sports.

Morrison attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where he received an associate degree in graphic design.  Morrison also earned a certificate in Digital Media Marketing from the University of Calgary.

“We are thrilled to have Kaylen and Ryan on board for our 2023 season,” said WLA Commissioner Paul Dal Monte. “Not only can they bring a unique skill set and perspective to our social media, but their knowledge of the game will continue to help us drive fan engagement across all of our teams.”

Both Lomas and Morrison have strong ties to sports in BC. Lomas has been around local lacrosse, on and off the floor since a young age alongside her family. Morrison grew up watching the game as well as being involved in other sports like Hockey. Both played lacrosse as kids before transitioning to the social media side of the game. It was these childhood experiences for both Lomas and Morrison that drove their passion for sports, graphic design, and social media.
