WLA To Hold First-Ever Draft Lottery Ahead of 2022 Junior Draft
The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) will hold its 2022 Graduating Junior Player Draft virtually on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
And for the first time in league history — because of the pandemic-caused cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 seasons — the order of the draft will be determined by a lottery, which will be webcast at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, two weeks before the draft. (In all past drafts, the draft order was determined by teams’ placements in the previous year’s regular season standings.)
Both events will be produced by the team at the Langley Events Centre and will be webcast for free at WLALacrosse.com; results will also be presented on official WLA social media channels. Check your team’s social media or use the hashtag #WLADraft to participate in the conversation. A representative from each team will join WLA Commissioner Paul Dal Monte and WLA broadcasters to host both events in preparation for the next season.
The WLA and its seven member teams are working towards the 2022 season and will be releasing its regular season schedule on Thursday, Feb. 3.
